The mikan, Japanese clementine, was macerated in shochu for as many as months to get the flavor out of the fruit and into the drink. Afterwards, the flavor is balanced by adding sake and sugar.
This mikanshu comes from Arita, Arita City is known as a major producer of "Arita oranges" with a history and tradition of 400 years.
We can interpret this flavor as a bouquet of a Japanese clementine that is quite surprising with the expressive frailty of a fresh-sweet flavor throughout the ripe finish. This mikanshu is very nicely balanced.
